Yamaha announces commitment to Unified Communications in Europe

Yamaha Corporation has been the market leader in Unified Communications in Japan for over 10 years. However, the company now intends to proceed with a new focus in the European market according to a press release.

Back in 2014, Yamaha expanded into the United States as it acquired Revolabs. The company later became a subsidiary of the Yamaha Corporation and was renamed Yamaha Unified Communications in 2018.

Today, Yamaha is realigning its interests to also focus on the European market. In order to do so, the company intends to optimise “the regional and technical knowledge of the European Yamaha sales channel.”

Yamaha is therefore able to provide “critical resources and support, including a new, dedicated IT sales channel team” in Europe. The team will also be able to “assist customers seeking to update their communications systems.”

Hirofumi (Hogan) Osawa, operating officer, senior general manager of business division, audio products business unit, Yamaha commented on the news. “With this move, we will be able to provide complete coverage of the region, quickly answering technical questions, guiding customers to the solutions that will best fit their applications, and fulfilling orders faster,” Osawa said.

The European UC market

Yamaha’s complete collaboration portfolio provides a total audio and video solution for “effective, clear, and reliable communications” in any environment. This includes remote conferencing, fast-growing huddle room spaces, boardrooms and auditoriums.

In Europe, the IDC predicts that spending on mobility products and services will grow to $325 billion by 2022. If so, this will be an increase of $32 billion – up from $293 billion in 2018.

Data from 2017’s Q2 also suggests that the UCaaS market is accelerating at an annual rate of 29%. This is according to a Synergy Research Group report, which indicates that strong UCaaS adoption among enterprises will continue to drive the market going forward.

The market is thriving in the US, but is also doing particularly well in the UK and Germany. “UCaaS continues to provide a richer and more cost effective collaborative communication system for businesses globally,” Jeremy Duke, Synergy’s founder and Chief Analyst commented.

80% of European communication service providers (CSPs) also expect 5G to increase enterprise revenue opportunities. This is according to IDC, which also found that CSPs are optimistic regarding the development of Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS).

It is evident that Europe is continuing to embrace Unified Communications in its many forms. It is therefore no surprise that Yamaha have decided to expand their offerings into the fast-growing European market.
