Salesforce and Dropbox integrate services as part of ‘strategic agreement’

Salesforce and Dropbox have agreed to what they describe as a “strategic partnership” within which the two companies will integrate their services more closely. 

Salesforce is a customer relations management platform while Dropbox provides cloud storage and file-sharing services.

Both companies have strong market presence in the enterprise sector, and say their new arrangement will enable “companies of all types and sizes to collaborate and more deeply connect with their customers across sales, service, marketing, commerce and more”.

The two initial specific integrations will be called:

Commerce Cloud and Marketing Cloud + Dropbox – which is designed to offer such things as branded, customised Dropbox folders within Salesforce Commerce Cloud and Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and has a new Digital Asset Engagement solution.

Quip + Dropbox – which enables access to Dropbox content such as photos, videos and slides, directly within Salesforce Quip, and adds support for Quip documents, allowing joint users to work on Quip files stored in Dropbox.

In general, the new integrations will enable Dropbox Enterprise users to “significantly extend” the use of Salesforce products such as Salesforce Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud and Partner Relationship Management.

Quentin Clark, SVP of engineering, product and design at Dropbox, says: “This deeper partnership with Salesforce is a great opportunity to build new value for our mutual customers.

Dennis Woodside, chief operating officer at Dropbox, says: “Salesforce has completely changed the way businesses connect with their customers through the use of cloud, social, mobile IoT and AI technologies.

“Together, we have the opportunity to fundamentally change how people work.”

This new integrations agreement extends the already existing relationship between Salesforce and Dropbox.

Previously, there has been the launch of a Dropbox for Salesforce app, which is available on the Salesforce AppExchange.

Also, Salesforce Ventures has been an investor in Dropbox since 2014, and its continuing expansion of the relationship will probably enhance the market value of Dropbox, which announced its initial public offering.

Dropbox has also recently signed a partnership agreement with Google, according to TechCrunch.com.
