ScanSource acquires Intelisys Global to expand UCaaS in Europe

Tech giant ScanSource has acquired Intelisys Global, Europe's first technology services distributor of telecom, connectivity and cloud services. The company has also appointed Paul Emery to Vice President of Cloud Solutions and Services.

Back in 2016, ScanSource entered the telecom and cloud services market in the US with the acquisition of Intelisys. Now, ScanSource is attempting to infiltrate the European market.

The demand for UCaaS in Europe is growing. In order to exploit this gap, ScanSource intends to expand its functionalities in the cloud and Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS).

Launched in 2016, Intelisys delivers portfolios of cloud and connectivity services in a monthly recurring revenue model. ScanSource plans to offer the company's cloud products as part of its “as-a-service” model.

ScanSource will provide tools, processes, and systems to resellers beginning to grow their cloud and UCaaS practice in Europe. These resellers will now have access to telecom, connectivity, and cloud services suppliers.

ScanSource announced the news in a press release on Wednesday. It detailed the allocation of Paul Emery, former lead of the company's communications business in the UK.

Emery will be responsible for managing the systems, processes and programmes for the cloud and UCaas business. He said “we are thrilled with the acquisition of Intelisys Global, as it immediately opens up opportunities for our partners who are ready to grow their cloud and services business.”

He added “our goal is to not only help our resellers grow their traditional premise-based business, but also to provide the tools, suppliers and support they need to build their cloud and recurring revenue business." Emery has been with ScanSource for over 12 years.

Stephen Hackett is a newer addition to the ScanSource team. Hackett has migrated from Intelisys Global to take up the role as director of Cloud Solutions Development at ScanSource.
